Owings

OWINGS REAL ESTATE

Owings, in Calvert County, was home to an intersection of the Chesapeake Beach Railway. David Moffatt, the president of the Railway, renamed the station "Owings" in order to avoid conflict and confusion with the town of West Friendship, Maryland. The name was a tribute to Harry P. Owings, a local farmer and real estate agent. Although a small town, Owings is just 25 miles from Annapolis and 15 miles to Prince Frederick.
